UPDATE: Man and Woman Arrested in Ludlow Meth Case

Two arrests have been made following the discovery of another meth lab in southern Aroostook County.

Evidence of the drug-making operation was discovered in a vehicle in the Town of Ludlow, according to a release from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

On Friday evening, Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 911 call on the Ludlow Road. A woman was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital following an accidental chemical exposure, allegedly connected to the process of manufacturing meth, according the MDEA. The woman was treated for chemical burns and released from the hospital.

MDEA’s Houlton Task Force responded to Ludlow  to investigate. As a result of evidence gathered that evening, investigators arrested 30-year-old James Anthony of Ludlow and initially charged him with Attempted Manufacturing of Methamphetamine, a Class C felony. Those charges would later be elevated.

Agents also seized a vehicle, as they believed that it contained further evidence of meth manufacturing. On Monday, MDEA’s clandestine lab response team executed a search warrant on the car. Agents seized Methamphetamine, along with a significant amount of evidence, consistent with meth manufacturing, the MDEA said.

As a result, 25-year-old Kayla Nason of Houlton was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and taken to the Aroostook County Jail.

This marks the 26th state-wide methamphetamine lab incident that the  MDEA has responded to this year and the 6th in Aroostook County.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, the Houlton Fire Department and the Maine DEP also assisted in this case. The MDEA says the investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely.
