Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to numerous calls for service this past week in and around Aroostook County. Here is a sampling from the Troop’s weekly report:

Incident Type: CASE SOLVED Date: 2/20/2018 Town: BANCROFT Trooper: TR. BELL Brief Synopsis: Tr Bell was able locate a suspect that he had been searching for since July 2017 in regards to a theft and criminal mischief case in Bancroft. Tr Bell summonsed him for theft and criminal mischief, and the male was also the suspect in a recent reported burglary in which he entered an automotive shop in Weston to take a pickup truck. Tr Bell summonsed him for criminal trespass only as the suspect had paperwork that he owned the truck, and that truck may have also been sold to the owner of the automotive shop.

Incident Type: PROBATION VIOLATION Date: 2/21/2018 Town: MASARDIS Trooper: TR. PESCITELLI Brief Synopsis: Tr Pescitelli was notified by probation officer Fran Cyr of a probationer that he wanted checked on for possible probation violation. Officer Cyr had gotten a report that the male was using illegal drugs. Tr Pescitelli, Tr Stoutamyer, Tr Levesque and Cpl Hafford responded to the residence in Masardis and located the 26 year old male. Tr Pescitelli had the male take a drug urine test, which showed that the male had been using meth. Tr. Pescitelli arrested the male for probation violation and transported him to Aroostook County Jail.

Incident Type: ASSAULT Date: 2/21/2018 Town: MASARDIS Trooper: TR. SAUCIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier, Sgt. Haines and Ashland PD responded to Masardis for a suspicious 911 call by an intoxicated female. The investigation showed no crime was committed and the female was warned for misuse of 911. The female was very uncooperative and belligerent throughout the incident and eventually assaulted Sgt. Haines. The female was placed under arrest and transported to the Aroostook County jail where she was charged with Assault, Refusing to Submit to Arrest and Disorderly Conduct.

Incident Type: WARRANT ARREST Date: 2/21/2018 Town: ASHLAND Trooper: TR. SAUCIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier assisted Ashland PD on a probation check which was requested by the subject’s probation officer. The 34-year-old male tested positive for meth at his last check in and now was refusing to come back in. The man was located and again tested positive for meth. A hold was put on him by the probation officer. At the same residence, a 26-year-old Presque Isle female was located and found to have an active warrant. Both were arrested without incident and transported to the ACJ.

Incident Type: TRESPASSING Date: 2/21/2018 Town: MAPLETON Trooper: TR. CASAVANT Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant and Sgt. Haines responded to Mapleton for a suspicious trespassing complaint. The caller reported a man came to his door demanding to be let in and then got stuck in the driveway in a vehicle. The man returned to the house several times and the caller stated he and his friend had a gun and would use it if needed. The 36-year-old suspect was on bail and well known to police. The man was detained a short time until the situation could be figured out. No crime was committed and the man was released and given a trespass warning.

Incident Type: WARRANT ARREST Date: 2/21/2018 Town: MONTICELLO Trooper: TR. ADAMS Brief Synopsis: Tr Adams went to a residence in Monticello to locate a female that had an active warrant. The female answered the door, Tr Adams notified her of the warrant to failing to appear and arrested her on the warrant.

Calls for Service - 97 Incident Type: OUI Date: 2/22/2018 Town: T17 R4 WELS Trooper: TR. DESROSIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier responded to T17 R4 Wels for a report of a man who drove his vehicle into another vehicle at the Long Lake Sporting Camps. Tr. Desrosier located the man who said that he was attempting to leave the parking lot onto the Sinclair Rd. when his vehicle began to slide on the ice covered parking lot. The suspect’s vehicle slid into another vehicle two times causing damage. Tr. Desrosier ran the man through SFST’s and arrested him for operating under the influence. The man later posted bail.

Incident Type: MENTAL HEALTH Date: 2/22/2018 Town: LITTLETON Trooper: TR. KILCOLLINS Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins received a complaint from a concerned citizen reporting a person that had been sitting on the side of the roadway in Littleton for most of the day. Tr. Kilcollins responded to the area and spoke with a woman who was wearing only wind pants and a light jacket. Tr. Kilcollins learned that the female was released from jail and was walking to Masardis. Tr. Kilcollins was concerned for the woman’s well-being due to the cold temperatures and set up a relay for her to get home since she did not have any money or family in the area.

Incident Type: OAS AND BAIL VIOLATION Date: 2/22/2018 Town: OAKFIELD Trooper: TR. SAUCIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier was called out for a suspicious female parked at the Oakfield Irving. An employee suspected the female was under the influence. Tr. Saucier located the 28-year-old Patten woman and knew her from past dealings to be a drug user. Tr. Saucier found the female to be incoherent and appeared likely impaired. From Tr. Saucier’s DRE experience he felt she was under the influence of Heroin or another narcotic. Tr. Saucier arrested the female and the woman later admitted to using meth and alcohol, but didn’t remember anything and denied operating the vehicle. The surveillance recording was reviewed and everything was on tape and witnessed by the employee. Tr. Saucier conferred with the DA, the woman was charged with OAR, VCR, and unauthorized use of property (pickup) after speaking with owner.

Incident Type: THEFT Date: 2/22/2018 Town: NEW SWEDEN Trooper: TR. CURTIN Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin took a report of theft of street signs from the Town of New Sweden. A similar incident occurred several months ago, and they were recovered in Fort Kent. The case remains under investigation.

Incident Type: THEFT Date: 2/22/2018 Town: PATTEN Trooper: TR. SAUCIER Brief Synopsis: Tr. Saucier received a report of theft of lithium batteries from Ellis IGA in Patten. The offender was identified through the surveillance tape and will be charged as soon as he is located. The investigation is ongoing.

Incident Type: OAS Date: 2/24/2018 Town: MAPLETON Trooper: TR. LEVESQUE Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque was conducting rural patrol and stopped a vehicle for a violation. Tr. Levesque learned that the operator’s license was under suspension. Tr. Levesque charged the woman with OAS.

Incident Type: WRONG WAY DRIVER Date: 2/24/2018 Town: SHERMAN Trooper: TR. DUFF Brief Synopsis: Tr. Duff responded to mile marker 267 [on Interstate 95] for a vehicle that was traveling southbound in the northbound lane. Tr. Duff was en-route when the vehicle was stopped by East Millinocket PD at around mile marker 244. The call was transferred to Troop E.

Incident Type: SCHOOL VISIT Date: 2/24/2018 Town: DYER BROOK Trooper: TR. DUFF Brief Synopsis: Tr. Duff escorted the Southern Aroostook Lady Warriors from Island Falls to the school in Dyer Brook after they won the Northern Maine Class D championship.

Incident Type: PURSUIT Date: 2/25/2018 Town: PRESQUE ISLE Trooper: TR. LEVESQUE Brief Synopsis: At approximately 0800 hours PIPD received a complaint of a gas drive off and theft of goods from a store on Main St. in Presque Isle. The suspect was identified as being George Peaslee from PI. PIPD had been dealing with Peaslee on a regular basis as of late and he was on bail. PIPD attempted to locate Peaslee to place him under arrest for theft, Class C. Attempts were made to contact Peaslee at his residence in PI but there was no answer at the door. Items of the theft were seen in the center console of Peaslee’s vehicle. At about 9:10 AM, Officer’s from PIPD observed the vehicle being operated by Peaslee on Parsons St. and PIPD initiated a traffic stop. Trooper Levesque and Sgt. Clark assisted with the traffic stop. During the stop, Peaslee advised that he was not going to get out of the vehicle and sped off. Tr. Levesque and Sgt. Clark began to chase Peaslee. Peaslee was driving in a reckless manner and speeds reached more than 100 mph at times. Caribou PD set up a spike mat near the Caribou Motor Inn on Rt.1. Peaslee did not stop and struck the spike mats causing three of his four tires to deflate. Peaslee turned on to Main St. where Tr. Levesque conducted the PIT maneuver which caused the car to stop. Peaslee refused to exit his vehicle and windows to his car were broken out to extricate Peaslee from the vehicle. Peaslee was taken into custody and his car was towed from the scene. Peaslee was transported to Caribou PD for processing and then medically cleared at TAMC. Peaslee was then transported to the Aroostook County Jail where he is being held on charges. PIPD Charges: Theft, Class C, Violation of Conditions of release X2, Class E, Eluding, Class C, refusing to stop for a law enforcement officer, Class E.
