Aroostook County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a 26-year-old man in connection with a burglary Saturday at the Lake Road Baptist Church in Monticello.

Acting Sheriff Shawn Gillen said the church had been ransacked and multiple items were reported missing.

Through a neighborhood canvass and other interviews, deputies developed a lead and tracked down Robert Brewer of Linneus, who was working nearby, Gillen said. Brewer was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and was arrested. Deputies also discovered some items believed to have been taken from the Monticello church.

Sheriff’s Deputies then obtained a search warrant for a trailer on the Somerville Road in Linneus where Brewer was staying. In that search, deputies found a number of items stolen from the church, Gillen said.

Brewer is charged with burglary, theft, possession of drugs and violation of conditions of release. He is being held at the Aroostook County Jail pending a court appearance.

Deputy Sheriff Rick York is the lead investigator in the case and was assisted by Deputy Sheriffs Corey Saucier, Vance Palmer and Sgt. Matt Cummings.
