
Two Men Charged with Burglary after Ransacking Store in Maine
Two men and a woman were arrested after a burglary at Ellis Variety convenience store in Dixfield.
Ransacked Store during Burglary
The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said two masked men “ransacked the store and stole approximately $820 worth of cash and rolled coins.” The suspects then fled the scene.
Two Men Identified
The two men were later identified as 25-year-old Shawn Morrison and 32-year-old Justin Perry.
Woman Spending Coins at Store
A 51-year-old woman, Melanie Kinney, was later identified using the rolled up coins at a local store. Deputies used surveillance footage to ID her and the coins were the same form the burglary.
Search and Seizure
A search warrant was executed at 14 Third Street and the three were taken into custody. Stolen property was seized including coin rolls, clothes worn during the crime and crack.
Multiple Charges
The two men, Morrison and Perry, were charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking, violation of conditions and criminal mischief. Kinney faces charges for receiving stolen property and drug possession.
Taken to Jail
All three were transported to the Oxford County Jail. The investigation remains open.
