Man Charged with Arson and Burglary after House Fire in Maine
A 42-year-old man was charged with Arson and Burglary after a house fire early Sunday morning at 34 Proctor Road in Biddeford.
Suspect Arrested at the Scene
Richard Olin of Saco was detained at the scene and arrested. He was transported to the York County Jail and was held without bail.
Residents Escaped Fire
“Residents were home at the time of the fire but were able to make it out safely. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.
Man Knew People in House
Police said Olin did not live at the address, but knew the residents. He could face more charges.
House Damaged and Garage Destroyed
The house was damaged and the garage was completely destroyed.
Fire Investigation
The Office of State Fire Marshal investigated the case with assistance from the Biddeford Fire and Police Departments. Mutual aid was provided by Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Goodwins Mills, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport, Arundel, and Scarborough Fire Departments.
