Fredericton Man Charged With Murder in Lincoln, N.B. Stabbing
Police have charged a 60-year-old Fredericton area man with second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of another man in Lincoln, N.B.
The West District RCMP responded to a home on Gorham Court at around 11:30 Sunday night following a report of an altercation between two men, in which one of the men was stabbed. Police say the victim, 50-year-old Michael Sacobie of Lincoln, died at the scene. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, according to Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh.
Police were able to identify the suspect as 60-year-old Peter Mollins. RCMP arrested Mollins in Fredericton on Monday morning with assistance from the Fredericton Police Force.
On Monday evening, Mollins appeared before a judge by way of a tele-remand and was charged with the second-degree murder of Michael Sacobie. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Fredericton Provincial Court on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
The New Brunswick RCMP's Major Crime Unit is conducting the homicide investigation.
