The work of local artist Judy Sherman will be featured during the month of May at the Wintergreen Arts Center.

The opening reception for Sherman will be held Friday, May 3rd from 6:00 - 8:00 pm during the First Friday Art Walk.

Sherman still lives in the small town of Oxbow where she was raised and is an inspiration for her artwork.

Sherman took up art lessons at the urging of her husband in 1988 and has been hooked since then. Prior to that, Sherman described herself as a "doodler." Her medium of choice is acrylic.

Besides winning numerous awards for her artwork, Sherman has also donated many pieces to area fundraisers. And if that wasn't enough, she also does illustrations for local authors.

When she isn't painting beautiful pictures, Sherman owns and operates the Deep In The Woods Gift Shop in Oxbow, which features Maine-made arts and crafts and a Christmas tree farm.
