Police believe alcohol may have been a factor in a two-vehicle collision Sunday in Tilley Road, N.B. that claimed the life of a local man.

Tracadie RCMP and emergency crews responded shortly before 7:30 a.m. to the head-on collision between a car and a pickup truck on Route 365. The 42-year-old driver and lone occupant of the car died at the scene of the crash, according to Constable David Hamel.

The driver of the pickup truck was transported to hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.  We'll have more details as they become available.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who has any pertinent information to call the Tracadie RCMP at 506-393-3000.

Tilley Road is a community in northeastern New Brunswick.
