If you're an ice fisherman in New Brunswick, you may want to start thinking about moving your shanty off the ice.

According to New Brunswick's Department of Environment, ice fishing season officially ends on March 31st. All shanties must be removed prior to midnight April 2 or earlier as stipulated by Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Failure to remove the shelters and debris from the ice before the spring thaw can pose a serious risk to rivers and waterways.

The Department is encouraging all New Brunswickers to be responsible stewards of the environment and to report any infraction of environmental regulations.
