The City of Caribou and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department are encouraging residents to put a public, fun face on the holiday season. Lydia Kieffer is the city's marketing and event coordinator and says the Winter Decorating Contest for homes and businesses is going on through Tuesday, December 21, with judging between the 16th and the 20th.

Kieffer says there are three judging categories: Traditional, non-traditional and business. Traditional includes things like white lights, greenery, wooden decor, and Victorian styling. Non-traditional includes colored lights, sound and motion displays, inflatables, unique themes, pop culture and modern stylings. She says displays will be judged for category appropriateness, creativity, effort, design, originality, visual appeal and imaginativeness.

Judging and People's Choice Voting will take place from December 16th-20th. Winners will be announced December 21st. On Monday, December 16th, the home locations of those participating will be announced so that people's choice voting can begin. Photos of the decorated homes will be posted at the City of Caribou Facebook page and the photo with the most likes will win the "People's Choice" award.  The award and the winner for best-decorated business will be announced Tuesday, December 21.

Kieffer says forms are available at the Parks and Rec office on Bennett Drive and at the City of Caribou Facebook page and the Rec Department page..
