Dr. Jessica Meir, NASA Astronaut, and native of Caribou Maine is coming to her home state to visit with school kids about the S.T.E.M. program in Kennebunk.

According to RSU 21's website, Dr. Jessica Meir will be joining students at their school in Kennebunk on May 3, 2017. Dr. Meir will speak to all elementary school students in the morning and then to the middle and high school kids in the afternoon.

Dr. Meir will speak about the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Program, as well as Student Aspirations.

The public is invited an evening presentation by Dr. Meir at the Middle School of the Kennebunks from 6 - 7:30 p.m. of the same day.

Dr. Jessica Meir earned her Ph.D. from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. In 2002, she served as an aquanaut on the NASA Extreme Mission Operation 4, also known as the NEEMO 4 crew.

In 2013, she was named an astronaut candidate by NASA, becoming one of the eight members of the NASA Astronaut Group.
