Bus Driver Stabbed in Perth-Andover
A bus driver who was stabbed in Perth-Andover last night remains hospitalized after going though surgery. New Brunswick RCMP say a Maritime Bus pulled into the parking lot of a Perth-Andover restaurant around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Two police officers at the bus station were approached by a passenger who told them that the bus driver had been injured in a knife attack. The driver was taken by ambulance to Hotel-Dieu hospital in Perth-Andover where he remains in stable condition.
Police arrested a 27-year-old Moncton man, who had been a passenger on the bus, in connection with the stabbing. The man was taken to the hospital in Grand Falls and then transferred to a hospital in Campbellton for treatment.
The CBC reports that the bus was en route to Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec. The six other passengers on the bus were put up at a Perth-Andover hotel overnight and were to be picked up by another bus today.
The RCMP says the investigation is ongoing.
