Acting United States Attorney Richard W. Murphy announced that Adam Brake, 29, of Berwick, Maine, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court.

Adam brake was sentenced by Judge George Z. Singal to 7 years in prison and 24 months of supervised release for being a felon in possession of firearms.

Brake pleaded guilty on June 5, 2017.

According to court records, in May 2016, Brake committed eight burglaries in the Berwick area.

Brake traded some of the stolen items for heroin in Lawrence, Massachusetts and hid other items in a wooded area in Berwick.

Law enforcement agents recovered items stolen during six of the burglaries, including nine firearms. Brake was prohibited from possessing firearms because of a prior felony drug conviction.

The case was investigated by the North Berwick; South Berwick; Berwick; Wells and Eliot Police Departments; and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
