Agents Seize Bath Salts, Six Arrested in Aroostook County
Six men from central Aroostook have been arrested after a month-long investigation into the trafficking of Bath Salts and other drugs in the area.
Police arrested 33-year-old Doil Hayes of Fort Fairfield, 21-year-old Ryan Brewer of Blaine, 38-year-old Keith Cochran, 24-year-old Karter Burtt and 24-year-old Brandon Mills, all of Mars Hill for Class B Trafficking in Synthetic Hallucinogens. 50 year-old Eric Rosten of Presque Isle was charged with trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Oxycodone), according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
For the past month, agents from the Aroostook District Task Force conducted an investigation into the illegal distribution of synthetic cathinones, commonly known as “Bath Salts,” throughout the central Aroostook County area.
Agents were able to infiltrate the group and make a number of purchases of Bath Salts. Agents also purchased Oxycodone from Rosten. The investigation resulted in the seizure of over 12 pounds of Bath Salts and approximately $40,000 in drug proceeds, according to MDEA Commander Peter Arno.
Assisting in the investigation and arrests were officers from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Fairfield Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations.
Throughout the day on Thursday, agents and officers arrested members of the group at various locations. All six men were transported to the Aroostook County Jail where bail was set at $10,000 cash each.
The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
