State Police say the driver of the tractor trailer truck, 49-year-old Timothy Brown of Presque Isle, was traveling north on Rt 11 in Masardis when a snowmobile crossed the roadway in front of him at a high rate of speed.

As Brown was approaching, another snowmobile came out and attempted to cross Rt. 11. The snowmobile struck the logging truck on the side, police said. The front of the Ski Doo traveled under the truck and was torn in half.

Brown was uninjured, police said. The snowmobiler, Jeremy Allen, 35 of Huntingtown, Maryland, suffered a possible compound fracture of his right leg and multiple minor injuries.

State Police said Allen was the second in the group as the snowmobile in front of him went across the road. When he approached the stop sign on the trail, he said the sign was right on the side of the road and he did not have time to stop. He then slid out into the road and struck the tractor trailer in front of its driver's side rear wheels, according to police.

Police said Allen was in his 3rd day of snowmobiling ever, and he was traveling with three other snowmobiles as a group. He said weather visibility was not an issue.
