An 18-year-old woman who was thrown from her car in a crash on Route 11 in Portage Thursday afternoon sustained only minor injuries.

Maine State Police responded to the single-vehicle accident shortly before 1:30 p.m.

According to Corporal Chuck Michaud, 18-year-old Savannah Flint of Eagle Lake was driving south on Route 11 near the Fox Hill Road intersection when she drove off the road. Her 2009 Mitsubishi struck a guardrail, climbed a snowbank, and crashed into another guardrail on the opposite side of Route 11. Flint, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle, Michaud said.

Flint told police that she wasn’t sure why she lost control and drove off the road. She was transported by Ashland Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The vehicle was extensively damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Corporal Michaud was assisted at the crash scene by Ashland Ambulance and the Ashland Fire Department.
