A Chapman woman has hospitalized with serious injuries Monday after a two-vehicle crash on Main Street in Mapleton.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and emergency personnel responded to a 911 call around 11:30 a.m.

Sheriff's Deputies determined that 46-year-old James Laplante  of Chapman was eastbound on Main Street in his 2009 Saturn Outlook when he attempted to make a left turn into a local business. At the same time, 28-year-old Carl Nemer of Ashland was heading west in his 2015 GMC Sierra pickup when he collided with Laplante's vehicle.

Police say a crew from Mapleton, Castle Hill and Chapman Fire Department had to extricate 45-year-old Danielle Laplante, a passenger in the SUV.  She was transported by Presque Isle Fire and Ambulance to Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital iwith what police called "serious but not life-threatening injuries."

Both drivers were injured in the crash but refused medical attention. All occupants were wearing their seat belts, police say. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to disabling damage.

Sgt. Erica Pelletier is investigating the crash.
