The Caribou Police Department has charged a 41-year-old Washburn man with possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop late Friday night in Caribou.

At around 11:30 p.m., Officer Chad Cochran pulled over a vehicle for an expired temporary registration on Route 1 near the Fort Street Bridge. Caribou Police stated in a post on social media that the driver, Kimberly Stewart, was operating with a suspended license. The front passenger was also suspended.

Police said the passenger in the back seat provided a false name, even after being warned that doing so was a crime. After being placed under arrest, the man told Officer Cochran that his name was Larry Easler. It was learned that Easler had a warrant for his arrest for failing to report.

Officers searched Easler and the vehicle and seized several baggies containing a white powdery substance and one baggy containing a crystal powdery substance. Caribou Police said the substance was later determined to be methamphetamine. Officers also allegedly seized drug paraphernalia, a knife and a baton.

Easler was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and providing a false name, as well as the outstanding warrant.
