Man Arrested for Warrants after Fleeing from Police in Maine
A 27-year-old man was arrested for outstanding warrants Tuesday after he fled from police and a school was locked down in Scarborough.
Suspect Wanted on Five Warrants
The Scarborough Police Department said Kyle Cassell from Westbrook was wanted on five outstanding warrants charging theft, failure to appear on charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, theft, violating conditions of release, and operating with a suspended license.
Suspect Fled from Police during Traffic stop
The Scarborough Police Department Special Enforcement Unit tried to pull Cassell over on Payne Road around 11:16 am. He did not stop and fled from police.
Abandoned Car in Parking Lot
Cassell’s vehicle was located soon after, abandoned in a parking lot. A K-9 team attempted to locate him but could not.
School Locked Down
The Eight Corners School initiated an emergency hold in place order due to the proximity to the school.
Man Located
Officers were made aware of a male fitting the description on Gorham Road near Cumberland Way around 3:11 pm.
Suspect Fled and was Tracked Down by K-9
Cassell fled into the woods when police tried to approach him. A K-9 team tracked him hiding in the woods and he was arrested.
Additional Charges
Cassell was additionally charged with failure to stop for a police officer, eluding, criminal speed, driving to endanger, reckless conduct, refusing to submit to arrest and operating after suspension.
