Two women died and two people were injured after a head-on collision Wednesday at the intersection of Washington Street and Beech Hill Road in Auburn.

Two Women Died after Head-On Crash

Two passengers in one vehicle died, 57-year-old Catherine Chafin and 44-year-old Emily Bennet. Chafin was pronounced dead at the scene and Bennet died later at the hospital.

Car and Truck Collision

The Auburn Police Department said the driver 21-year-old Stela Kakhuba crossed in front of 50-year-old Jason Plummer from Salisbury, MA.

Two Injured

Kakhuba was seriously injured in the crash and another passenger in her vehicle, 19-year-old Wardha Yussuf, had serious injuries. They were taken to Maine Medical Center. Plummer was not injured.

Crash investigation

The crash is under investigation. Auburn PD and Lewiston PD were at the crash site.
