Tom Cruise Says There May Be a Volleyball Scene in ‘Top Gun’ Sequel
Here's some news we can really "dig": Tom Cruise claims the recently-confirmed Top Gun sequel may include a volleyball scene!
The original 1986 film, of course, features a now-classic scene starring Cruise, Anthony Edwards, Val Kilmer and Rick Rossovich playing a heated game of volleyball on the beach — all set to a Kenny Loggins soundtrack, naturally.
"[There] may be a volleyball scene," Cruise told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, June 6, while at the premiere of his new film, The Mummy.
"Maybe. We'll see," he added. "I have not told anyone in the world as much as I've just told you right now."
So was the original volleyball scene simply a gratuitous excuse to show off the actor's chiseled chest? That's beside the point, people! And besides, who among us hasn't played a tough game of pickup volleyball on a hot beach (wearing nothing but blue jeans, just like Cruise) while a bunch of people with nothing better to do watch?
If there is a new volleyball scene coming out way, however, it remains to be seen if Cruise will once again go shirtless. After all, the Risky Business star does not have the physique of your run-of-the-mill 54-year-old man.
