3/10 - Tr. Lilley assisted the S.O. at a residence in Ludlow arresting a male subject on outstanding warrants. After making comments about not going to jail willingly, male attempted to flee into the house and Tr. Lilley and Deputy gave chase, tackling the male who was arrested after a short struggle. Evidence of drug possession and use was found in the house after the arrest and case is continued to be investigated by the S.O.

3/10 - Tr. Casavant investigated a hit and run crash on Route 1 in Monticello. A 23 year old Houlton man was traveling south on Route 1 when he attempted to pass a vehicle driven by a 54 year old Millinocket man. The Houlton man side-swiped the other vehicle causing damage to both vehicles. The Houlton man failed to stop after the crash and continued onto side streets in Monticello before he was finally confronted by the other operator. The Houlton man left shortly after contact was made without providing any information to the other driver. A registration for the Houlton man’s vehicle was obtained and found to have been reported stolen earlier in the day in Houlton. The vehicle was stopped on Route 1 in Houlton by Tr. Casavant. The man was found to be under suspension and admitted to taking the vehicle without permission. After further investigation, the man was arrested by Tr. Casavant for Leaving the Scene of an Attended Vehicle Accident and transported to Aroostook County Jail. He was also charged with Operating after Suspension. Houlton PD responded to the scene and summonsed Keaton for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. Tr. Casavant was assisted at the scene by Lt. Cote as well as Border Patrol and Houlton Police Department. Both vehicles were operable and nobody involved in the crash was injured.

3/12 - Troopers Quint and Michaud responded to a call from a resident in E Plantation reporting a woman is banging on her door who claimed to be bleeding. Crown Ambulance also responded to the residence. Aroostook County was receiving a large amount of snow and the roads were not being plowed. Trooper Michaud was unable to get to the residence in his Crown Vic but Trooper Quint’s Interceptor was able to make it to the residence. Crown Ambulance reported that there was nothing medically wrong with the woman and she was not bleeding. The 24 year old woman also stated she had an active arrest warrant and wanted to turn herself in. Trooper Quint met with Crown Ambulance and arrested the woman. The woman admitted to using bath salts and was visibly under the influence of the substance. The woman was taken to the Aroostook County Jail for two Superior Court warrant for failing to appear in court for Possession of Hydrocodone charges.

3/13 - Trooper Quint arrested a 25 year old Hodgdon man after he repeatedly violated an active protective order. The female victim called and reported the man showed up at her residence March 12th and had been calling and sending her text messages. While Trooper Quint was interviewing the victim, the man called three times and sent text messages. The man was arrested in Presque Isle and transported to the Aroostook County Jail.

3/13 – The day-long snow storm dumped over 18” of snow in the Troop F area and multiple crashes were handled during the day. At one point, both Rt. 163 and US Rt. 1 were down to one lane as a result of crashes. No crashes involved injuries.

3/13 – In the middle of the snow storm Tr. Ferland responded to a home in Sherman where a 33 year old male had committed suicide. A doctor from the Medical Examiner’s Office came to the scene and assisted with the investigation. No foul play is suspected. Tr. Saucier assisted at the scene.

3/14 - Tr. Flynn re-arrested a 55 year old E. Plantation woman for a bail violation after she called 9-1-1 from her cell phone by accident. The woman had been drinking and also had her boyfriend who is the victim in a DV case back at her residence.

3/15 - Tr. Saucier arrested a 75 year old Patten man for OUI after a traffic stop conducted while working a Stonegarden detail on Route 11.

3/15 - Sgt. Harris and Tr. Whalen responded to a report of a tractor trailer crash on Rt. 1 in Westfield. Josef Vencek, age 70 of California was southbound on Rt. 1 in Westfield and lost control of his 2005 Freightliner tractor trailer hauling a load of paper. Vencek’s truck and trailer jackknifed and then skidded off the opposite side of the roadway, striking a guardrail and skidding backwards off the road over the embankment into a small stream. Vencek was not injured in the crash and his truck and trailer are considered a total loss and sustained extensive damage. The truck and trailer were removed from the scene by Brewers Service of Mars Hill.

3/16 - Troopers Flynn and Casavant were called out for a domestic dispute in Mapleton. The SO had been there earlier in the evening dealing with a similar incident related to a separated couple who were fighting over property and had until today to get property removed. The female alleged an assault, but there was no evidence of injury or assault and the female confirmed she was blocking the door as her ex removed his property. The parties were separated and both the judge and ADA will be consulted on the details of the court order and potential assault charges.

3/16 - Troopers Saucier and Casavant responded to a family dispute in Patten. A male driving up from New Hampshire advised that his girlfriend was being held against her will by her family in Patten. Upon arrival, Tr. Saucier determined the family was trying to prevent the female from returning to an abusive relationship she came back to Maine to escape from. The female denied the family’s claims and wants to return to NH with her boyfriend so she left with him.

Troopers Clark and Levesque, along with Sgt. Chad Fuller, attended the 420 Passenger Vehicle Interdiction class at the MCJA. This class was focused on the transportation and smuggling of illegal drugs and currency.

Tr. Sylvia began 14 weeks of patrol K-9 training with K-9 Merry at the MCJA.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties. In addition, the Troop patrols Interstate 95 from Sherman to the Canadian border in Houlton.
