Maine State Police – Troop F’s weekly incident report…

1/13 - While conducting a school visit at Mapleton Elementary, Trooper Michaud stopped a 50 year old male subject for speeding in the school zone. The operator had a conditional license and investigation disclosed he was drinking beer while driving through the school zone. He was charged with speeding in the school zone, failing to provide evidence of insurance, consuming alcohol while operating a motor vehicle, and operating beyond his license restriction. The students that were outside appeared to enjoy watching the field sobriety tests that were administered.

1/13 - Tr. Saucier arrested a 41 year old Sherman man for theft and possession of firearm by a felon related to stealing a handgun from another Sherman resident. The handgun was recovered. Tr. Lilley assisted with the investigation.

1/13 - Sgt. Haines attended two days of Tactical Team Training in Augusta.

1/14 - Tr. Flynn arrested a 69 year old Caswell man on an outstanding warrant.

1/15 - Tr. Hafford responded to a complaint in Stockholm that a male subject had entered a residence and would not leave. This male was intoxicated and got into a physical confrontation with the homeowner. Tr. Hafford arrested the 26 year old male for violating conditional release. The homeowner did not want to press charges against the male for trespassing or assault. The male reported that he had been kidnapped by the homeowner. Tr. Hafford was assisted by ACSO Deputy Malmborg.

1/15 - Tr. Flynn investigated an assault complaint in Caswell where a 23 year old female and her 26 year old husband assaulted another female at her residence. The case remains under investigation.

1/15 - Troopers Saucier, Casavant and Trooper Recruit Adam Bell responded to Upward Trail in Smyrna for a family fight. No crime and the parties were separated.

1/16 - Tr. Whalen investigated a report of stolen checks in Easton. Investigation continues with suspects identified as checks were forged and cashed at multiple locations throughout the County.

1/16 – Tr. Quint responded to Hodgdon High School for a report of a possible assault by a parent. A 13 year old female had told classmates she had been assaulted at home. Investigation revealed the case was unfounded.

1/17 - Tr. Whalen responded to Easton for a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed vehicle didn’t have insurance, had never been registered and operator did not have a license. Operator summonsed for the three violations.

1/17 – Tr. Quint stopped a vehicle for an unsafe pass in Littleton. His resulting investigation allowed him to charge the driver with Providing a Place for Minors to Consume and Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by a Minor. A female passenger was charged with Possession of Alcohol by a Minor. A second passenger was charged with Possession of a Useable Amount of Marijuana. ACSO Deputy Wheeler assisted on the stop with his K-9.

1/17 – Tr. Josh D’Angelo, Sgt. Chad Fuller and Presque Isle Police Officer Kevin Reed conducted a school K-9 search at the Easton High School. Nothing was located as a result of the search.

1/20 - Tr. Saucier investigated a phone harassment complaint in Mount Chase. The cell phone caller has yet to be identified but called several times making sexual comments. The case remains under investigation.

1/21 - Tr. Saucier investigated a stalking/harassment complaint in Island Falls. The 38 year old male was not located, but will be served a cease harassment notice once he is found.

1/21 - Tr. Saucier investigated a theft complaint in Patten. As a result of the investigation two Patten men were charged with theft. The investigation is ongoing and has been connected to other thefts in the area.

1/21 - Tr. Casavant investigated a shoplifting complaint from the Mars Hill IGA. The store captured the theft on their surveillance system and as a result Tr. Casavant was able to locate the 37 year old Blaine woman and get her to confess to stealing the three dollar tube of diaper rash cream. The woman was summonsed for the theft.

1/23 - Trooper Clark and Trooper Recruit Doody were given a temporary protection order to be served on a male from Easton. The male also had an active warrant and was under suspension. Tr. Clark and Tr. Recruit Doody set up surveillance and stopped him while he was driving. Tr. Recruit Doody arrested the male for the warrant and charged him with OAS. The P.O. was served at the jail.

1/24 - Sgt. Fuller assisted Border Patrol with searching the trailer of a tractor trailer unit at the Houlton Port of Entry. Gleni indicated on the outside of the trailer and when the trailer was emptied, Gleni indicated on two locations inside. There was evidence of the interior being tampered with at those locations and one of the operators has been charged with smuggling drugs in the past. There was nothing found in the trailer this time.

1/24 - Troopers Flynn, Casavant and Sylvia assisted Van Buren PD with a stolen bob-tail tractor. The tractor was located on Route 1 in Caribou and stopped by Tr. Flynn. A 31 year old Caribou man was arrested and the tractor unit was recovered. Van Buren PD remained the lead on the stolen motor vehicle investigation, but Tr. Flynn subsequently charged the man with OUI and OAS.

1/25 - Tr. Marquis assisted Fort Kent PD with a hit and run crash. Tr. Marquis located the female operator in Wallagrass and she was brought back to Fort Kent PD where she was charged with OUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

1/25 - Tr. Sylvia investigated a trespassing complaint in Linneus. As a result a 25 year old Ludlow woman was given a trespass warning.

1/25 - Tr. Saucier was nearly run into by a snowmobile on Route 2 in Island Falls. The 25 year old operator would not stop, but was later identified and arrested with violating his bail conditions. The Maine Warden Service assisted in locating the owner of the snowmobile.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties. In addition, the Troop patrols Interstate 95 from Sherman to the Canadian border in Houlton.
