Maine State Police – Troop F’s weekly incident report…

12/30 - Tr. Whalen recovered a large safe in Westfield that was found to have been stolen in an overnight burglary at restaurant in Houlton. The safe was turned over to Houlton PD and their investigation is ongoing.

12/30 – A 33 yoa Linneus woman was arrested for violation of conditions of release after her husband reported her drunk and out of control in her residence. The woman was on bail for assaulting the husband, was not supposed to have contact with him or their children due to the incident. Investigation revealed the woman had been living there for approximately a month. The woman was intoxicated, did not cooperate with Troopers or jail staff, and had to be medically cleared before the jail would accept her.

12/31 – Tr. Quint arrested a 25 yoa Monticello man on three warrants, two from Aroostook County and one from York County Superior Court. The man was taken into custody without incident. The arrest stemmed from him making a trespassing complaint the previous evening.

1/01 - Tr. Saucier arrested an Island Falls man on an outstanding warrant after seeing him in the grocery store on Tr. Saucier’s day off.

1/01 – A 31 yoa Monticello man was arrested for criminal speeding. He was observed on radar driving 73 mph in a 30 mph zone. Tr. Quint followed the man for approximately 5 miles before he stopped. The man was taken to the Aroostook County Jail.

1/01 – Tr. Quint covered an unattended death in Danforth for Troop J due to an incident that delayed their Trooper’s response. The death was not suspicious.

1/02 - Tr. Casavant investigated a burglary at the town garage in Monticello. The investigation is ongoing.

1/02 - Tr. Saucier arrested a Patten man on an outstanding warrant.

1/02 - Tr. Sylvia attended a day of K-9 training in Farmington.

1/03 - Tr. Flynn and Sgt. Haines arrested two Bridgewater men on outstanding warrants.

1/03 - Tr. Whalen investigated a report of child porn found on a tablet. The device will be reviewed by Computer Crimes but at this point it does not appear the complaint is substantiated.

1/04 - Tr. Monahan investigated a theft of a large amount of fuel from trucks parked in Linneus. Investigation is ongoing.

1/04 - Tr. Casavant stopped a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Oakfield for speeding and discovered the operator was under suspension-revoked. Subsequent search of the car turned up almost 2 lbs of marijuana and 4 grams crack cocaine. The male operator was arrested for OAR and the male passenger was arrested for trafficking in marijuana and possession of cocaine. Tr. Casavant was assisted by Tr. Lilley and Tr. Monahan.

1/04 - Troopers Clark and Levesque, along with Sgt. Fuller responded to Washburn to assist the PD with a 10-45 where a man was reported to have a loaded hand gun and threatening suicide. The man had re-entered the residence to retrieve more guns while the victim was on the phone with 9-1-1. The caller was not in the residence at the time. The subject was taken into custody by Washburn units when they arrived without incident. The man was arrested for DV assault and the guns were removed from the residence.

1/06 & 1/09 - Troopers Casavant, Flynn and Trooper Recruit Bell dealt with a 28 year old New Sweden man who has been using bath salts and is delusional. His parents continue to call police and EMS for assistance and the man was treated at Cary Medical Center and AMHC.

1/06 – Trooper Recruits Bell and Darcy were stopped on I-95 south of Medway assisting a motorist who had slid off into the center median. A tractor-trailer unit lost control on the ice covered roadway and struck the motorist’s car before continuing on striking Trooper Recruit Bell’s cruiser and then going off into the center median. Despite a large amount of property damage, no one was injured.

1/07 – Trooper Recruits Bell, Darcy and Doody arrived at the Houlton barracks for their orientation and FTO assignments. We welcome them and look forward to an outstanding basic field training session.

1/07 - Tr. Saucier stopped a 53 year old Smyrna man for a traffic violation and as a result of the stop arrested and charged the man with OUI.

1/07 - Troopers Casavant, Sylvia and Sgt. Haines responded to a family fight in Hodgdon. A 21 year old man was fighting with his mother and was removed from the residence for the night.

1/08 - Tr. Saucier investigated a protection order violation in Portage. As a result of the investigation, a 44 year old Bangor man was arrested by Troop E for violating the order by calling the protected party. Tr. Saucier relayed the man to the Houlton jail for arraignment the following morning.

1/09 - Tr. Saucier investigated a trespassing complaint on the Grindstone Rd in Staceyville. Several men were seen at an abandoned house and claimed they had permission to be there. Tr. Saucier was suspicious of their story and warned the men not to return until he could verify their permission from the property owner. The case remains under investigation.

1/09 - Tr. Levesque responded to Mapleton for a third party report of a possible domestic. After investigation, male subject was arrested for DV assault and violation of bail conditions after it was found he had struck and assaulted a female at their residence. Male was unable to post bail and was transported to ACJ. Tr. Levesque assisted by ASO.

1/09 - Male subject called the Barracks to complain about the condition of the roads. Prior to arriving, it was discovered that the man had warrants for his arrest. Tr. Whalen arrested the man without incident.

1/10 - Tr. Lilley responded to the Houlton POE for a subject who had 4 outstanding warrants. Subject was a passenger in a car headed to Limestone that missed the Houlton exit, ending up in Canada by mistake. When the car returned through the POE, warrants were discovered. After Tr. Lilley brought the subject to jail, he was called back to the POE because it was found the male operator was under suspension and on bail for an OUI. The operator was also arrested and brought to the jail to join his passenger.

1/10 - Tr. Whalen responded to report of someone outside a residence. Upon his arrival, he discovered that a male subject had been walking and had gotten cold and decided to break into the garage of what he thought was an empty house. Upon breaking the window to gain entry, the homeowner called their neighbor who came over and confronted the man. They then allowed the man inside to wait for Tr. Whalen to arrive. Upon arrival, Tr. Whalen arrested the man for criminal mischief and transported to ACJ. In a strange twist, the man was upset with Tr. Whalen that it took so long for him to get there to arrest him.

1/10 - Trooper-Recruit Doody and Tr. Clark arrested a 70 year old female for VCR. The female was arrested on 12/12 by the Aroostook S.O. for DV assault against her husband. The complainant called advising that they were having contact. The suspect admitted to having contact in violation of her bail conditions. She was arrested and transported to the ACJ.

1/11 – Sgt. Fuller responded to mile 288 northbound to a rollover accident. When he arrived, he noticed that the vehicle on its roof belonged to his mother-in-law. People at the scene told him that there was still one occupant who needed the seatbelt cut in order for the occupant to get out. Sgt. Fuller cut the seatbelt and was able to remove the occupant and get her to another vehicle. There were no injuries in the crash and the vehicle was totaled.

Troop F of the Maine State Police is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties. In addition, the Troop patrols Interstate 95 from Sherman to the Canadian border in Houlton.
