It's no secret that it can get pretty darn cold here in northern Maine. If you don't believe me, look outside and look at all of the ice and snow on rooftops and roadways.

But this season, Maine has yet to see the coldest day on record, but in times past, Mainer's have seen a very cold day, the coldest, actually, and it happened right here in the County.

Our friends at weather.com have kept a record of the coldest day in the County.

On an icy, cold January 16th morning in 2009, the temperatures in Big Black River fell to minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit which had beat out an earlier state record of 48 below.

I don't know about you, but I'm not looking forward to beating that record anytime soon.
