According to their website, the Aroostook Band of Micmacs holds a tribal election every two years. The tribe has voted and the results are in.
The majority of over 1240 members of the tribe live in the Aroostook County area and an election was held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
The voice of the tribe has been heard.
Congratulations to Chief Edward Peter Paul, Vice Chief Richard Silliboy, and Tribal Council Members--Dora Dow, Christina Donnelly, and Brandon Getchell.
Chief Edward Peter Paul won by a landslide with 77 votes.
These will be the Micmac tribal leaders for the next 2 years.
