A local teen was taken to the hospital after his truck went off the road and crashed at a lumber yard in Bridgewater early Wednesday morning.

Maine State Police say the teen was westbound in his pickup on the Bootfoot Road shortly after 1 a.m. when he lost control on the icy road and skidded into a business parking lot. Trooper Adam Bell said the 2006 Chevy truck struck a detached bucket of a front loader which caused major damage to the pickup .

The investigation indicates that the boy sustained a major blow to the head and likely lost consciousness for an unknown amount of time.Police say he eventually woke up and managed to walk to a neighbor’s house to report the crash.

The teen was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, Bell noted. He was transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center and was medically cleared.
