A major winter storm is expected to bring snow, rain, sleet and ice to northern and eastern Maine this weekend.

With a major storm forecast for Sunday night into Monday, Emera Maine is busy with efforts to ensure equipment and crews are ready throughout its service territory.

Severe thunderstorms moving through the area have knocked out power to more 1,700 Emera Maine customers in parts of northern Aroostook County.

NB Power is strongly cautioning customers against attempting to remove, clear, or have any contact with trees or vegetation near power lines or infrastructure. This can be an extremely dangerous activity if performed by anyone other than trained professionals.
