The Maine Warden Service says the accident happened at the intersection of the Sunrise snowmobile trail and a logging road. The sled crashed into the fully loaded logging truck at the intersection with Woods Road near Jonesboro at about 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Officials say speed is believed to have been a factor in the accident.

The victim has been identified as Brett Coleman, 49, of Blue Hill, said Lt. Dan Scott of the warden service.

“Excessive speed was the main cause of the incident,” Scott said Tuesday.
The warden service and state police continue to investigate the crash, he said.

This is the 4th snowmobiling fatality in Maine this year. There have also been fatal crashes in Baldwin, New Sweden, and St George. All four fatal crashes have involved single machine accidents with one rider.
