RCMP Seize Guns and Drugs in Carleton County Raid
A Carleton County man has been charged with weapons offences following a seizure of firearms and drugs in Speerville, New Brunswick.
Members of the Woodstock RCMP went to a home on Speerville Road Tuesday morning, according to Constable Andrew Whiteway.
A search of the home led to the discovery of nine firearms, ammunition, bear mace and brass knuckles, as well as quantities of drugs, police say. A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene. The RCMP did not say what types of drugs were seized.
The following day, two women from Speerville, ages 37 and 21, were arrested at the same address. They were both released pending future court dates.
Police say 39-year-old Walter Patrick Michaud of Speerville appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court on Wednesday and was charged with unauthorized possession of firearms, unsafe storage of a firearm and unauthorized possession of prohibited weapons.
Michaud was released with conditions pending an appearance at Woodstock Provincial Court on August 27 to enter a plea.
The RCMP investigation is continuing.
