School superintendent Quenten Clark said a family member approached him with Gloria MacKenzie's offer to pay nearly $2 million to repair the roof at Schenk High School in East Millinocket.
MacKenzie's daughter is a long-time biology teacher there. And her son has served as a past member of the school board and the Board of Selectmen.
MacKenzie, who's 84, took a lump sum of $371 million that totaled $278 million after taxes. She bought her winning ticket May 18 in Zephyrhills, Fla. Clark told WABI-TV in Bangor that her donation is a "real blessing to the community."
