That was my wife's alarm clock this morning. I may be a few days late in receiving this news, but yes, Dexter Morgan will be returning to Showtime in not just a prequel this December, but a sequel as well with a date not yet announced.

Quickly, in my defense with being late to the party on 'Dexter' news, it's hard to keep with all of these hit shows and streaming services. (trailer below BTW)

In addition to playing the titular character once again in the Dexter sequel 'Resurrection,' Michael C. Hall will also reprise his role as the narrator or "inner voice" for the younger version of Dexter Morgan played by Patrick Gibson.

Dexter's father will be played by Christian Slater. With most prequels (and sequels) come new characters. We're particularly fond of Miami Metro's captain in 1991 Aaron Spencer. This will be Dexter's father's boss, and someone we can only assume will be very suspecting of Dexter's antics (bloody murders). So, who is playing Captain Spencer?

Lewiston, Maine's very own - Patrick Dempsey. Amid the summer months, we're usually pretty patient for December and Christmas to roll around, but with this news - HO HO HO, tell the jolly elf to hurry up and get his sleigh ready, we're ready to cheer on McDreamy and this popular serial killer (which the producers have somehow normalized), again. Cue that theme music!
