Police Sergeant Died after Crash on Bridge in Maine
A 41-year-old police sergeant died early Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash on the Piscataqua Bridge.
Veteran of Police Department Died after Crash
Sgt. Jacob Wolterbeek was an 18-year veteran of the Biddeford Police Department. He died after crashing into the back of a box truck that was stopped on the bridge due to another crash.
Police Sergeant Died at the Scene
Wolterbeek died at the scene. He was driving home to Portsmouth, New Hampshire around 1:14 am, said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Husband and Father of Three
Sgt. Wolterbeek was a husband and father of three. The Biddeford Police Department posted more information on Facebook.
Ongoing Crash Investigation
Lanes of the Maine Turnpike were closed in the area for several hours. The crash is under investigation.
