One Dead in I-95 Crash in Carmel

State police and emergency crews were called to a fatal accident Friday morning on Interstate 95 between Newport and Bangor.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. at mile marker 170 in the northbound lanes in Carmel.

State police spokesman Steve McCausland said a car went off the highway and into the trees. One person died in the crash and another was transported to a Bangor hospital with unknown injuries.
