Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in Lac-Mégantic, Quebec yesterday afternoon to survey the devastation caused after a runaway train carrying crude oil went off the tracks and triggered a deadly fire.

A group of Maine parents are calling on Gov. LePage to sign a bill designed to provide information about food packaging that contains the toxic chemical BPA.

The state Legislature will return to Augusta Tuesday to make a correction to the $6.3 billion state budget and to deal with a handful of veto override votes.

Maine wildlife officials have begun accepting applications for the 2013 any-deer permit lottery to be held in September.
