We love mini golf in our Pine Tree State; it’s a fun activity for all ages, with silly obstacles and courses that are just challenging enough. It has all the elements of regular golf, just miniature.

Here in Maine, we can’t wait for warmer weather to stick around so we can get outside and enjoy the sun with friends and family.

While there are several things we can do outside, this is one of our favorites. Mini golf is a great way to spend an afternoon laughing, competing a little, and soaking up the sunshine. According to one of the biggest trip-planning companies in the country, Maine has some of the very best courses in all of New England, including the #1 spot.

According to TripAdvisor, ‘Desert Of Maine‘ in Freeport is the best mini golf course in New England, with the following description:

Wait? There is a desert in the middle of the forest in Maine? Who knew?! This nearly 100-yr-old tourist attraction has undergone a massive renovation in recent years. Come spend some time outdoors exploring this one-of-a-kind natural phenomenon! You will learn about the unique history, geology, and ecology of this place, in addition to the fascinating characters that have shaped its history over the last 200+ years. We offer a self-guided tour, Gemstone Village (a magical labyrinth for kids to explore and hunt for gems), a Fossil Dig experience, a brand new mini golf course, a train ride, a hiking trail around the dunes, a building buried under 40ft of sand, a Story Walk, a one-of-a-kind natural playground built by a local artist, a charming 1930s-era gift shop, a classic snack bar that serves grilled hot dogs/sausages, kettle corn, fresh lemonade, and ice cream! In addition, our recently renovated campground offers tent camping, glamping tents, and luxury cabins.
