A 49-year-old New Brunswick man is facing child pornography charges following a joint investigation by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the New Brunswick RCMP's Integrated Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

On August 10, Joseph Haggerty of St. Stephen, N.B. was arrested in Cleveland, Ohio and was charged there. RCMP executed a search warrant  at a home in St. Stephen the following day and seized several electronic devices, according to Cpl. Jullie Rogers-Marsh.

On Monday, November 6, Haggerty was charged in Saint John Provincial Court with making and possessing child pornography, and luring a child under the age of 18 years. He remains in custody in the United States. A warrant for his arrest has been issued within Canada.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit includes members of the RCMP, the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force and the Saint John Police Force.
