NB Power Says Phone Collector is a Scammer, Not an Employee

NB Power is advising customers in New Brunswick to be on alert for fraudulent telephone calls from individuals posing as its employees. 

NB Power spokesperson Marie-Andrée Bolduc says the crown corporation has taken several reports from customers who have received calls from individuals asking customers to make urgent payments by money order to avoid having their power disconnected.

Customers who receive calls from individuals making these claims are encouraged to report the incident immediately to their local police force, the RCMP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 (toll-free).

NB Power also reminds customers to be cautious when receiving telephone calls requesting their financial information or offering products and services.
