If you grew up in Maine or in the New England area you know we have more than 4 seasons. There's Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring and Mud season. And right now we are currently at the beginning of mud season, as the weather warms and the snow and ice melt mixing with the sand and soft ground to create tons of mud.

This years mud season is causing some closures at Acadia National Park. The Associated Press reports that the park has had to close down their famed carriage roads due to mud and the fear that using the roads would cause too much damage from hikers, horses and cyclists. This isn't a permanent closure though, just until the grounds dry out a bit and the land can harden back up.

Superintendent Kevin Schneider said the temporary closure will help to keep the historic carriage paths in good shape and prevent costly repairs, according to the Associated Press.
