Police and emergency crews were called out just before 3:00 a.m. after a woman called 9-1-1 to report a crash in the Meduxnekeag River area. Woodstock Fire Chief Ricky Nicholson tells us that crews patrolled up and down the highway trying to locate the accident site, then spotted a woman on the bridge that spans the river.

Nicholson said the woman’s car had gone down the embankment and ended up on its roof under the bridge. She had managed get out of the vehicle and climb up the embankment to get help.

Woodstock Fire Dept. and Ambulance NB personnel freed the children from the wreckage. The woman and her two children, ages 2 and 6, were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries, Nicholson said.

The bridge was down to one lane in the westbound lanes early Monday morning.

West District RCMP is investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
