At the age of 20, Morgan Wallen took a chance and auditioned for the sixth season of The Voice.

Making his mark during the blind auditions in the fourth episode, Wallen shared his story of how he had once dreamt of a career in professional baseball until a serious elbow injury altered his trajectory. This unexpected turn led him to embrace his other passion—singing. He stepped onto The Voice stage to inspire others never to abandon their dreams.

Wallen's song choice during his audition should have resonated with Mainers, particularly those from Brewer. He chose to perform Howie Day’s 'Collide,' a song with special meaning for folks from the Pine Tree State.

Howie Day, a Brewer native who attended Brewer High School, penned this iconic track. Released on June 1, 2004, as part of Day's second full-length album, 'Stop All the World Now,’ the song climbed to number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 a year later, in June 2005.

During his blind audition, Wallen impressed both Shakira and Usher, receiving chair turns from them, but he ultimately chose to be on Usher's team.

Morgan Wallen's rendition of Howie Day's 'Collide' on The Voice marked a pivotal moment in his journey to stardom. It serves as a powerful reminder that life's unexpected turns can lead us to our true calling.

For Wallen, this performance set him firmly on the path to success, and it seems like he has done pretty well for himself.
