Missing Delaware Woman Seriously Injured in Grand Isle Crash
A woman reported missing in Delaware suffered serious injuries in a rollover crash early Thursday in northern Aroostook County.
Maine State Police responded to the crash around 1:30 a.m. on Route 1 in Grand Isle. Trooper Corey Hafford found that the driver, 40-year-old Kathryn Campbell of Newark, Delaware had missed a curve and went off the road in the settlement of Lille. The 2001 Ford sedan vaulted off a snow bank and hit a utility pole before rolling over, police say.
The investigation showed that Campbell had been reported as a missing person on February 9th. State Police say the woman gave a false name at the scene but was later identified through the missing person report from Delaware.
Campbell suffered a broken neck in the crash and was transported to Cary Medical Center in Caribou and later transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor for further treatment.
Corporal Hafford was assisted at the scene by Van Buren Ambulance and Grand Isle Fire Department. Police say speed was a factor in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
