A witness has come forward and told Dexter police that she spotted a missing Colorado girl on Spring Street on Saturday.

The woman spotted Ridgeway riding in a blue Buick Century station wagon with Colorado plates heading north. According to the the witness, the 10-years-old was riding in the back of the car. But why did the witness wait several days before she reported seeing Ridgeway?

The woman, said that she didn’t know Ridgeway was missing until she saw an Amber Alert on Tuesday. She then contacted the police and told them what she had seen.

Ridgeway was reported missing after she never showed up for class on Friday. Her school called her home several times but her mother who works nights missed the call and didn’t report her daughter’s disappearance eight hours later.

Last Sunday more than 800 volunteers were searching near by ponds, after the police discovered Ridgeway’s backpack and water bottle 6 miles from her home.

The police are asking Mainers to call Crime Stoppers if they see a girl who has a small gap between her two front teeth and a sore on the top of her nose below where her glasses sit.
