Campbellton Deputy Mayor Ian Comeau opened the solemn ceremony on the banks of the Restigouche River saying, “We want to honor our two angels.”
Several people prayed and sang in memory of the two boys who were killed by a large python that entered their room as they slept.
The memorial included chants and drums of the Listuguj First Nation as hundreds of small lanterns floated on the water at Place du Saumon.

New Brunswick RCMP continues to investigate the deaths.  Sgt. Alain Tremblay said, "We recognize that this has touched the hearts of people across the world and that people want to know how this could have happened. Our investigators are looking at all aspects of this tragic incident, and that will take some time."

TD Bank has set up a trust fund to help the young boys’ family.
