Man & Woman from Madawaska Injured after Crash, Van Buren, Maine
A 74-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman from Madawaska were injured after a crash on Route 1 in Van Buren on Monday.
Driver Crashed into Utility Pole
The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office said Real Cyr lost control of his vehicle, crossed the centerline, went off the road and struck a utility pole. The crash happened near the Grand Isle town line.
Man in Critical Condition LifeFlighted to Hospital
The Van Buren Fire Department extricated Cyr from the vehicle. He was in critical condition and taken to Northern Maine Medical Center. He was then flown by LifeFlight to a Bangor hospital.
Woman Taken to Hospital with Injuries
Monique Cyr was the passenger. She was “transported to NMMC with non-life threatening injuries,” said Sheriff Peter A. Johnson.
Broken Pole and Power Outage
The utility pole was broken and power was out in the area. Versant Power was on sight for repairs. The road was limited to one lane.
