A 37-year-old man faces two years in prison and a $250,000 fine after pleading guilty to Re-entry after Deportation.
Tried to Re-Enter the United States
Americo Lopes-Da Silva from Brazil was arrested by Border Patrol after trying to re-enter the United States in Rangeley, Maine.
Illegally Entered the Country
Lopes Da-Silva had no legal status to be in the U.S. He had been removed from the country in 2021 after crossing illegally in Texas, said the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Active Investigation
The Federal investigation remains open with the U.S. Border Patrol.
