
Man Died and One Seriously Injured after Head-On Crash In Maine
A 38-year-old man died early Friday morning after a head-on collision and two cars caught fire on Route 1 in Woolwich.
Head-On Crash
Alex C. Colson from Rockland and 60-year-old Scott Rice from Waldoboro crashed head-on at the intersection of Mountain Road around 4:22 am.
Box Truck and Vehicle Collision
The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office said Colson “crossed over the centerline” and hit a Freightliner box truck. "As a result of the collision, both vehicles burst into flames."
Died at the Scene
Colson was pronounced dead at the scene from serious injuries. Rice was able to get out of his vehicle. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life threatening injuries.
Road Closed for Hours
Route 1 was closed for close to 4 hours and reopened around 8:30 am. The crash is under investigation.
