
Man Died after Crash with Tractor-Trailer on I-95 in Maine
A 33-year-old man died Tuesday night after being hit by a tractor-trailer on I-95 in Newport.

Juan Guallpa was pronounced dead at the scene around 11:36 pm.
Stationary Vehicle on I-95 Struck by Freightliner
The Maine State Police said his vehicle “was stationary in the northbound travel lane when it was struck from behind by a 2021 Freightliner.”
Investigation Ongoing as to Why Vehicle was Stopped in Travel Lane on I-95
“At this time, it remains unknown why Guallpa’s vehicle was stopped in the travel lane,” according to the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Car and Tractor-Trailer Went into Median and Semi Rolled Over into Traffic Lanes
The collision pushed Gualla's Chevy Volt into the median. The tractor-trailer also went into the median and rolled onto the passenger’s side and stopped in both travel lanes.
Tractor-Trailer Driver Seriously Injured and Taken to Hospital
The tractor-trailer driver was seriously injured and transported to Sebasticook Valley Hospital for medical treatment. Name and age were not released.

Traffic Lanes Closed for Cleanup of the Crash Site
Traffic in the northbound and southbound lanes on I-95 was closed in the area and traffic diverted. Northbound lanes reopened around 3 am. Southbound lanes were reopened Wednesday afternoon.
