
Man and Two Women Died & Two Injured after Shooting in Maine
A 29-year-old man died Wednesday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fatally shooting his mother and another woman & injuring two others in Sabattus.
Mother Shot and Killed in Vehicle
The Maine State Police said James Davis III of Sabattus shot his mother, 47-year-old Christine Smith, as she was driving with him in the vehicle on Route 9. She died at the scene.
Man Got Out of Car and Started Firing Gun
The vehicle continued through the intersection and stopped. Davis got out of the car and started shooting at passing vehicles.
Woman Died from Gunshots
Police said 53-year-old Katherine Williams from Sabattus was shot and killed by the gunfire. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Two People Shot and Injured
Two people were injured from the shooting including 19-year-old Tyson Turner from Jay and 35-year-old David Wilson from Hartford. They were in separate vehicles. Both were taken to the hospital.
Man Shot Himself
“Davis then shot and killed himself.,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.
Active Investigation
Detectives and technicians were on the scene collecting information and evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
