Maine State Police Troop F Weekly Report (Oct. 16 – 22)
Troop F of the Maine State Police responded to 148 calls for service over the past week in and around Aroostook County. Here is the Troop’s weekly report:
Incident Type: OAR Date: 10/15/2017 Town: Chapman Trooper: Tr. Pescitelli Brief Synopsis: Troopers Stoutamyer and Pescitelli conducted a bail check on male subject who had been recently charged for trafficking a scheduled drug (methamphetamine). During the course of the investigation a urine test was administered which showed the male had recently used methamphetamine. The male was placed under arrest and a safe that was located in his bedroom which he claimed he did not know the combination to was seized. After obtaining a search warrant the safe was opened and Troopers discovered evidence of methamphetamine and some paraphernalia.
Incident Type: BURGLARY Date: 10/17/2017 Town: Woodland Trooper: Tr. Casavant Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant responded to a Woodland residence for a burglary. A homeowner reported that tools had been stolen from his home. The investigation is active and ongoing.
Incident Type: BURGLARY Date: 10/18/2017 Town: Easton Trooper: Tr. Casavant Brief Synopsis: Tr. Casavant responded to a local food pantry when a worker entered the building to find someone had broken in and was escaping out a window as the worker walked in. Tr. Sylvia and K-9 Merry also responded to do a track, but it appeared that the subject had left the area in some type of vehicle. The investigation is active and ongoing.
Incident Type: FALSE PLATES Date: 10/18/2017 Town: Stacyville Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins was working a Stone Garden detail in Stacyville and observed a vehicle driving with expired registration. During the stop he discovered the registration plates were illegally attached. The male driver stated he just had not gotten around to switching the plates to the new vehicle. The man was issued a criminal summons for attaching false plates.
Incident Type: WARRANT Date: 10/19/2017 Town: Houlton Trooper: Cpl. Quint Brief Synopsis: During the annual DV warrant sweep, Tr. Kilcollins was looking for a man in Bridgewater with an active warrant. Tr. Kilcollins located and spoke with the man’s mother about the warrant and encouraged her to have her son turn himself in. The man also showed a Fort Kent address and Tr. Desrosier spoke with the man’s girlfriend who said he was working in the woods but she would relay the message to him. On October 20th the man got a ride from Fort Kent, where he is now living, and came to the Troop F Barracks to turn himself in on the warrant. The man told Cpl. Quint he has been working in the woods and the warrant is from a probation violation stemming from a DV charge. Cpl. Quint arrested and brought the man to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
Incident Type: CRIMINAL SPEED Date: 10/19/2017 Town: Blaine Trooper: Tr. Kilcollins Brief Synopsis: Tr. Kilcollins received a traffic complaint regarding an erratic vehicle in Blaine. Tr. Kilcollins was looking for the vehicle and observed it driving at a high rate of speed. His radar confirmed the vehicle to be going 60 mph in a posted 25 mph zone. The woman was issued a criminal summons for criminal speeding.
Incident Type: VIOLATION OF BAIL Date: 10/19/2017 Town: New Sweden Trooper: Tr. Curtin Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin responded to a New Sweden residence when a homeowner reported that a woman, who was not supposed to be at his home, arrived and rang his doorbell. Tr. Curtin obtained video footage from the area and confirmed the violation. The woman was arrested and charged for the bail violation.
Incident Type: BURGLARY Date: 10/20/2017 Town: Portage Trooper: Tr. Curtin Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin responded to a Portage residence for the report of a burglary. The homeowner reported that forced entry had been discovered at the home, which had been vacant for some time. The investigation is active and ongoing.
Incident Type: OUI Drugs Date: 10/20/2017 Town: St. John Trooper: Tr. Curtin Brief Synopsis: Tr. Curtin responded to a St. Francis business when it was reported that two individuals were at the location and acting strangely. The couple left prior to Tr. Curtin’s arrival, but he located them on the roadway a short time later. The male operator was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs after performing poorly on field sobriety tests. The subject was transported to Caribou Police Department for an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert.
Incident Type: OUI Date: 10/20/2017 Town: Saint Agatha Trooper: Tr. Desrosier Brief Synopsis: Tr. Desrosier and Sgt. Clark were patrolling the Flat Mountain Rd. In Saint Agatha and met a pickup that was speeding. While they were turning the vehicle pulled onto an ATV trail, shut off its lights and stopped. Tr. Desrosier and Sgt. Clark pulled in behind the vehicle and spoke with the driver. The driver was impaired and after Field Sobriety Testing was completed the man was arrested for OUI and taken to Fort Kent PD for an Intoxilyzer test which showed him above the legal limit. A 19-year-old passenger was given a breath test by PBT and issued a possession by consumption summons. Two 17-year-old females were in the back seat and their parents were called to come get them.
Incident Type: OUI Date: 10/21/2017 Town: Presque Isle Trooper: Sgt. Clark Brief Synopsis: Sgt. Clark stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in Presque Isle. During the course of the stop he suspected the 30-year-old female driver of driving while impaired. After conducting Field Sobriety Testing the woman was brought to Presque Isle PD for an Intoxilyzer test; the test results indicated the woman’s BAC was above the legal limit. The woman was arrested for OUI; this is her first offense.
Incident Type: Recovered Stolen Property Date: 10/21/2017 Town: Caribou Trooper: Tr. Levesque Brief Synopsis: Tr. Levesque assisted Caribou PD with recovering a stolen ATV that was located on a trail in Caribou. The case is from a theft being investigated by Tr. Casavant which is ongoing.
Incident Type: Warrant/Felony Possession of Firearm Date: 10/21/2017 Town: Haynesville Trooper: Tr. Pescitelli Brief Synopsis: Tr. Pescitelli conducted a warrant check for an individual in Haynesville at his residence. After knocking on the door an individual matching the description of the male with the warrant came out of a back door with a rifle in hand but he did not see Tr. Pescitelli. After placing something on the ground Tr. Pescitelli announced himself and the individual then ran inside the house with the rifle. Tr. Pescitelli gave chase into the house and the individual was located and placed under arrest. It was later discovered that the male was a convicted felon and was going outside to put down his pet ferret that was sick. The male was arrested for the warrant and was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a prohibited person as well as Violation of Conditional Release.
